How to clean pearl jewelry

Pearls are expensive piece of jewelry and they have to be properly cleaned and stored. Due to serious raise in the greenhouse gasses, dust and global warming, water contamination, pearls get easily damaged if they are not cared properly. Pearls with less nacre thickness are not the pearls of higher quality and are prone to get spoiled easily. Even for the pearls of highest quality, proper care has to be taken to conserve them.

Caring Your Pearls

Here are few tips to store pearls.

• Be sure to take off your pearl rings before you apply hand and body creams.
• If you get drenched in rain, or if the pearls become wet due to water shell unexpectedly, then wipe with clean with a soft cloth before storing them. Never leave the pearls damp.
• Do not put makeup and perfume after wearing pearls.
• Never clean your pearls with solutions that contain ammonia or harsh detergents.
• Don't use abrasive cleaners or rub pearls with abrasive cloth.
• Keep the pearls away from cosmetics, makeup brushes and powders.

Storing Your Pearls

K the pearls in a soft cloth pouch and hang them to your dresser or lock them in shelves. It is very much advisable that if you have jewelry box arrange the pearls in a special container or compartment in the box and do not let the pearls mix up with other jewelry as it may damage the pearls softness easily. Due to the friction that gets produced, these get easily spoilt if no precaution is taken while storing them.
